Avi Cohen | Partner
Avi lives in the Five Towns in Woodmere with his family. He is involved with many organizations and synagogues in the Five Towns, including Woodmere, Lawrence, Cedarhurst and Hewlett. Avi has been selected to Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars”, a prestigious recognition awarded to only 2.5% of attorneys. Avi maintains a 10.0 rating on Avvo, which is considered by Avvo’s own ranking standards as “Superb”.
Our founder Avi Cohen, has multiple years of experience including nine years working for a powerhouse boutique litigation firm focusing on matrimonial law and complex commercial litigation. Mr. Cohen prides himself on his honesty with his clients and his effective litigation style.
For over a decade, A. Cohen Law Firm, P.C. has supported countless cases in uncontested and contested divorce, child support and child custody, family law, personal injury law and commercial litigation.
The experts at our Valley Stream and Nassau County office have extensive experience in personal injury law including product defects, car accidents, medical malpractice, slip and fall and construction accidents.
Avi has successfully handled commercial and business legal disputes. He has represented clients throughout New York, including New York, Queens, Kings, Bronx, Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Jay Kopel | Associate
Jay comes to our firm with a background in residential real estate, global markets, and business. Prior to his legal career, Jay founded and sold a successful e-commerce clothing company. His legal experience includes clerking in the Supreme Court of Kings County and working for several prestigious real estate and litigation firms. Jay is a uniquely skilled divorce mediator; utilizing a common-sense approach to help reduce client fees while also being mindful of the emotional stressors of daily divorce anxiety.
Jay practices law in all state courts within New York. His friendly demeanor, sense of humor, and keen grasp of human nature helps put his clients at ease, not to mention the respect of judges and colleagues.
Jay grew up in Nassau County and was raised in the Five Towns. He is active in community synagogues and charities. When Jay is not pursuing law, he enjoys music and a variety of outdoor sports.
